Hallo.
Sorry for my bad english.
I have an Esprimo D9500 Fujitsu Semens notebook.
My lspci reports for wireless card: "06:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros
Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev
04)"
Dmesg says: "ath5k phy0: Atheros AR2425 chip found (MAC: 0xe2, PHY:
0x70)".
Iwconfig says: "
wmaster0 no wireless extensions.

wlan0 IEEE 802.11 ESSID:""
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point: Not-
Associated
          Tx-Power=20 dBm
          Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2352 B
          Encryption key:off
          Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

When I run "iwlist wlan0 scan" it says:" no scan results".
I can't access to any wireless lan, it seems that my atheros card doesn't
work.
With another card, a Lonshine, I can connect to my wifi lan but with
Atheros it is impossible.
There is any support for AR2425 chip?

This device is only supported in Linux 2.6.27 and newer.

That's what you would see with older kernels.

Yes.

Next time, please specify versions of the software you are having
trouble with.

Now I've installed debian package for Linux 2.6.27 taken from http://
kernel-archive.buildserver.net/debian-kernel/pool/main/l/linux-2.6/
and I have the same message from kernel:

"ath5k phy0: Support for RF2425 is under development."

So it doesn't work even with linux 2.6.27.

Now that you are on 2.6.27 try compat-wireless:

http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Download

This gets you bleeding edge. Or you can also just try wireless-testing directly.

Actually, I tested AR5007EG with Linux 2.6.27 and it worked, even with
WPA. So the problem is probably elsewhere (bad antenna, lack of APs
around, curly hands, irrational fear of things "under development" etc).

Sorry, my mystake.
It works with Linux 2.6.27.
Thank you very much :-)

If I can say, the card now works perfectly but is rather slow.
I am downloading some files from another computer inside my lan at home,
not from internet.
The other computer is connected with an ethernet card while my computer
is connected with my wireless card, ATheros.
The download starts at 1Mb and more but quickly degrades at 200 - 170 kb.
it.
Perhaps the driver needs some work yet.
Thank you and sorry for my bad english.

Which RC algorithm are you using? Use minstrel if you can.

Sorry for my ignorance but....where I can set the algorithm that I must
use?
The only things tath I have do are setting my SSID, protocol WAP2 and my
password.
Then I connect with network-manager under linux gnome.
