Hello! I was advised by lwfinger on the opensuse-forums to send the attached dmesg output to this email address. The troublesome device as seen by lusb: Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0cf3:1002 Atheros Communications, Inc. TP-Link TL-WN821N v2 [Atheros AR9001U-(2)NG] This USB WLAN Stick worked fine for several months with Suse11.3 out of the box, but upon upgrading to Suse11.4, it was not even recognized any more. Following advice on the opensuse-forums (installing compat-wireless and carl9170), the device is now recognized and works, but the connection is very slow and breaks down after a minute of data transfer (but the connection can often be restored again by the networkmanager). The other end of the WLAN, a D-Link DIR-655 router, remains unchanged and works fine with several other WLAN devices. The dmesg.out was taken after: booting, then using the USB WLAN Stick to browse the net, which caused the connection to drop, networkmanager reconnecting, browsing, dropping again and eventually connecting the machine to the net by Ethernet via a WLAN-Bridge device. Please let me know if this is of any use or whether I can provide any other information or do some testing to improve the carl9170 driver. Thanks, Steffen Jost.
