Hi All,

i do not get my Wlan Card with BCM4303 Chip to work.

My System is Debian Testing 32-bit with Kernel 2.6.25-2 from Debian,
therefore i am using the Driver b43legacy.

I tried to connect this Wlan Card with my Wireless Printer.
It is a Ad-Hoc Connection with,
SSID=3Dkleopatra
Channel=3D10
Authentification=3Dnon
Encryption=3D128-bit Wep

Here it comes the Outout from <lspci>,
02:02.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4303 802.11b
Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02)
	Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device 12f3
	Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 64, IRQ 17
	Memory at e0104000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=3D8K]
	Kernel driver in use: b43-pci-bridge
	Kernel modules: ssb

I tried some Howtos, but it didn't work.

<ifconfig> show's the following,

Your card can receive, but not transmit due to a problem with the
rfkill switch handling in b43legacy. I'm working on this problem with
a Ubuntu user, and will post patches as soon as the problem is fixed.

The Ubuntu user and I have discovered that his computer needs the
hp-dmi module that is part of the mainline kernel since 2.6.27-rc6.
This module handles the rfkill button that does not produce a
scancode. I think you will need to get that one for you to be able to
turn the radio on.

So the hp-dmi Module is only available in 2.6.27 ?

Hi Larry,

i thought it would be helpful to post my Messages. :-)
If not ignore this Message.:-)

I am using the NetworkManager Applet to show and connect to Wlan Networ=

My wireless Button shines blue when my Linux System starts.
However after i login onto myGnome Desktop and after some time the=20
NetworkManager Applet shows me my Wireless Network.

dmesg says,

As you can see, some Packets would transmitted over my Wireless Card.

iwconfig says,

However i can not print to my Wlan Printer and the status in the Networ=

Then i pressed my wireless Button, and dmesg says

You should check the posting at
http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0809.3/1423.html.
Perhaps you can activate your radio by software, even if the button
does not work.

Your log does not indicate that you pressed the button to turn the
wifi on. All we see is that the hardware switch was off.

Is your radio on/off button one that generates a keycode, or does it
need the WMI magic to be detected? If you are running X, then switch
away by CTRL/ALT/F1 and log in. Use the showkey command and press the
radio on/off switch. If it shows a scan code, report it back here. You
get back to X with CTRL/ALT/F7.

You are right. I pressed the Hardware wlan Button, but the LED Light
does not change. And the program <acpi_listen> does not show that
any acpi signal is sended.

I am not sure whether i can watch this signals with <acpi_listen>.

Ok i tried <showkey> during pressing my hardware butto in a VT,
but this shows nothing.
I have "hp Extras" as modul. Other buttons on my Laptop are working.

I can activate/deactivate the wlan led by using the netwotkmanager
applet <nm-applet> under gnome.

What is WMI Magic ?
