checked recently.

Interesting observation: all 3 complaints were from @gmail.com users.

It allows some email ids and doesn't allow some other email ids from gmail.
I believe it
is something to do with filters at ecartis. I tried to register
uvsaradhi@gmail.com and it
didn't worked. Finally I was able to register by creating this id. I believe
it is more to do
with filters at ecartis.

Well, it's the 4st time in the last couple of weeks that I try to
subscribe and my subscribe message is silently ignored (I cannot see in
my logs any sgi server trying to send me mail).

Then ecartis is broken. Since it seems very stale (last released
version is from 2000, since then only snapshots), maybe you should
switch to something more vital? Mailman comes to mind...

Ok, in Luca's case at least, it was spamassassin intercepting it...
thought his subscribe request looked like spam. :( Looks like
something to sort out, eh.

Hm, Luca and about 130 others, from grepping the logs.

Mailman and Sympa appear to be the top contenders at the moment.

Well, using bogus black lists (aren't they all bogus?) leads to that
(hint: my ip address isn't dynamic, though I strongly disagree to use
that as a criterion to decide what I'm allowed to do or not with my
connection).
Though I find it funny that in a misguided attempt to block spam I
cannot subscribe to the list, still I can post to it :-D

Eek, mailman is a complete pain in the ass for subscribers and also
software I don't really trust. I'd much prefer to just move over the
list to vger.kernel.org where things work nicely at a larger scale.

it wasn't a blacklist, it was about 4 other tests that tripped.
