I agree that gcc shouldn't warn here. I just pushed a patch to suppress that
warning:

and I plan to backport it to gcc 12 as well. gcc 11 doesn't have
-Wdangling-pointer.
So I think you should be able to re-enable -Wdangling-pointer soon.
