Hello,

I am having similar problems with a custom mpc823 board that we are trying
to port LinuxPPC to.
We have 4Mb of ram and 2Mb of Flashrom. We load the kernel from the
Flashrom and attemp to
mount the root file system over NFS. I am wondering if this could be
related to memorysize, i.e
we are seeing some kind of memory starvation? I will try to find a bigger
simm and try with
bigger memory.

Below is the output of the boot process.

Hi,

I am useing the MPC860 MBX Board (have only 4MB on-board memory) with
FDD and IBM 4GB HDD (2.5").

I will work 'mbxroot.full.tgz' file at
'ftp://linuxppc.cs.nmt.edu/pub/linuxppc/embedded'.

I plan to boot from NFS after compile at PowerPC 603 machine.

I have some question following:

(1) Can I boot from floppy of the MBX system?
if, yes. what is the method?

(2) I would like to know configuration for network booting, and
after network booting, can I install linux to the HDD of MBX system?
if, yes. what is the method?

(3) Can I use the MBX system for self-hosted development system?

(4) I compiled linux 2.2.6 for MBX system at PowerPC 603, then I tried
to
network booting, but didn't booting. what is the problem.

following is the console display message.

Hello again,

The solution for me was to unplug the hardwaredebugger. Then all page
faults stopped and everything
seems to be working.

A nice side effect is that the hardware seems to be runniing at least 3-4
times faster than with the dam thing connected. 8-)

K.D.
