[-- Attachment #1.1: Type: text/plain, Size: 1692 bytes --]

Hi..
I'm a linux newbie and im working on porting the USB driver ISP1362 by
Philips on to my Freescale ppc board.
I dont know how to do this... so if any of you can tell me how to do this
step by step, i would be very grateful to you

Few details..
I'm running RHEL with kernel 2.4.21 on a PC (i386 machine)
Target Machine is MPC8548 CDS by Free scale (ppc architecture) running
kernel version 2.6.11

I do have a ppc tool chain, if that helps.....but i dont know how to use it

Thanks

P.S. I downloaded the deive driver and host controller drivers from
sourceforge.net and both of them seem to work for 2.6.6 kernel for i386 arch
..

P.P.S : Wolfgang ??!1 Can you help me out... I went through the archives on
the list and seems thatu answered many Qs on this driver. But i didnt find
any post specifcally for my problem..so

Did you try something like:
http://www.freescale.com/files/32bit/doc/app_note/AN3094.pdf?fsrch=1
I think it's one of these "step by step" things.

(You should consider moving up to the latest Kernel which is 2.6.22.1
as of today. Nobody fixes bugs on that old kernel.)

What tool chain?

Did you read the documentation?
What problem do you have?

Sorry, my crystal ball is broken.
You didn't tell us any details about your problem.

You don't need to attach drivers, when they are somewhere in the
web. Linking to it is fine.
I don't have the hardware and such an old kernel.
(I am using the ISP1563 on PCI and that works just fine.)

The driver is not in the kernel tree. There is no real support
for out of kernel drivers, so these drivers just get old and broken.
Contact the driver author mentioned in the code (Marlon Jose Masbad)
and tell him to push the code into the latest kernel.

Have you tried
$ export ARCH=ppc
or something similar?
(powerpc is current)

On my MPC8540 and the latest tools (than one still on ARCH=ppc), I ran into some crap:

/usr/src/linux-2.6.21.5/drivers/ISP1362_Device/device/devmscd/devmscd.c:35:26: error: linux/config.h: No such file or directory
/usr/src/linux-2.6.21.5/drivers/ISP1362_Device/device/devmscd/devmscd.c:61:25: error: asm/segment.h: No such file or directory

So, well, just out of curiosity, I just killed some of the bad stuff and got it to build... :-)

$ make

Quick and dirty patch attached below...
Give it a try and publish your results (also to the list!)

Anybody who wants to see this in mainline?
It would be good to pick up *now*!
For sure it needs more clean up...
