I've been trying to watch all of the recent kernel releases and ac patches
for signs of the ANS patches (video, ethernet, etc.) by David T. McWherter
and have been left unsatisfied.

Is there a way to look and see if various patches have been
sent/accepted/waiting in queue? I've grepped through some of the latest
patches without finding it....anyone know where it is and it's status?

It's not in the pending queue, yet, as I've been too busy to
work on it up until now. Within the week, I hope to work with
G. Corville to get the patches into the queue...As they're
fairly stable, and no major updates are seemingly going to
happen for a short while (at least no updates from me -
I'm working towards an installer and such, though.).

Watch vger. That's where all the patches go through for PPC.

I don't have an up-to-date copy of the ANS patches but should be getting
them soon. ANS is on its way into the main kerenl but has taken quite a
while, yes.

Just another bit of good news:

v2.2.4 is up on
ftp://hellfire.dusers.drexel.edu/pub/linuxppc/v2.2.4
And soon will be finished uploading to
ftp://linuxppc.cs.nmt.edu/pub/linuxppc/patches/ans/v2.2.4

And the good news is that it seems that if you give it
a 'root=/blah' argument during bootup, it'll boot from
the internal scsi chain (at least it does so for us).

The file listing:

patches.tgz - The files changed in the source tree (from vger)
linux-pmac-2.2.1.ans.tgz - The modified source tree
	vmlinux(_2.2.4) - The compiled kernel

Now that the patches have been upload, when can we expect ANS support to be a
part of the main kernel? Will LinuxPPC 5 support ANS without the hoop jumping
we current go through?

It won't be right away. There are some other patches in the queue that I
need to sort through. They will be coming in within a couple weeks. We
have a lot of architectures now so patches are coming into the tree more
slowly.
