My turn to be sorry:-), i run linux without hard drive nor nfs.

Yes, in fact on my board, the zvmlinux is loaded via a backpannel
and uses a RAM file system as root file system (the ram file system code
has been modified to get its image from a section in the vmlinux image)

I can do nothing for your ata-disk or nfs, but i would be pleased to help

Hi
After a lot of difficulties I managed to boot a linux kernel.
Afterwards I downloaded the mbxroot.full.tgz (130MB). That
seems to start up but it lacks a lot of networking stuff and
furthermore it is built upon Redhat3.0.
In my opinion I should now work on a more actual distribution.
(Did rh3 support elf?)
Question:
- Does someone know where to get such a precompiled
distribution for ppc 860
- How did you proceed? Did u build all the stuff yourselfs?
TIA, Ruedi

Cool. What kernel did you end up using?

I've started rebuilding Debian (potato) for work in my lab. I don't have
the whole thing, but once I get ``base'' built, I could put it up.

Pretty much. I started out w/ building a patched glibc 2.1.2 on my Apple G3 w/
the tweaks for the MPC860. I have some more information on:
http://www.luxlucis.com/~alex/projects/MBX/
I still need to package up my binaries and patches; they'll be up in the
next few days.
Alexander
