Hi, Dan:
Have you made some Real-Time patches for your mpc8xx-2.2.13 source codes?

I will need real-time support in our embed-linux product in the future. I
know there are PPC real-time patches for linux-2.3.45 , but as you say,
linux-2.3.XX doesn't support ramdisk yet. So I will not choose linux-2.3.45 at
this time.
Now I 'd like to compare linux real-time performance (such as task switch
time... ) with vxWorks , pSOS. So I need mpc860 real-time support for
embed-linux.
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated :-)

I'm attempting to get the latest rtlinux-3.0 to work with 2.2.13. I
have no idea if it will, since I've just started. It looks reasonable
in concept, however.

I'd love to hear if anyone else has done this already.

I have done a kind of porting RTLinux 2.3.41_pre3 on our MPC860 board. It
seems to work...

What changes were necessary? I don't have a MBX but am interested in what
needs done. I just release pre4 of rtl 3.0 that works on most of the
systems I have (I haven't tested all).

The structure of rtlinux/ppc should allow all platforms to work with little
modification. If there are any changes necessary please let me know and
I'll make the changes.

Where can I download your pre4 of rtl 3.0? Can it work on MPC860?

It "should". That means I can't see why it wouldn't but haven't tested ona
the 8xx's yet. You can grab it from
ftp://ftp.fsmlabs.com/pub/rtlinux/v3.0/

If you try it out please let me know how it goes (or how it fails).

Do you think it would work on MVME boards ? (OpenPIC interrupt
controller). I might give it a try now that I've got VME working again on
2.3.50 and 2.4 is in sight.

It should work. I did the original work on an openpic system and it's been
tested on quite a few openpic systems (chrp, G4, vss4...).
