Hi there
I would like to see the embedded linux running on a 860 FADS board.
I downloaded therefore the fadsrom.tgz but didn't succeed in compiling
it on an Intel Linux Box. It seems as if it's not prepared for being
cross compiled...
... and what to do next, if the fadsrom is running?
Please help!

The FADS rom code is just an example of something to use for
processor initialization and loading kernel images. I used a
bunch of standard Linux kernel function to get PCMCIA Flash
file system access.
It once ran a long time ago and I certainly don't maintain it.
You may have to update the code to match newer data structures
and include files if you want to continue to use Linux derived
functions (which isn't necessary).

Ummmm.....well, it is tempting but I will try to provide
constructive comments. Go through the mailing list archives
and search for the messages where that was discussed. The FADS
is not currently part of a standard configuration, but you can
get there from the patches that were posted.

Where can I download the "fadsrom.tgz"? Thank you very much.

Hi, Dan:
Have you made some Real-Time patches for your mpc8xx-2.2.13 source codes?
I will need real-time support in our embed-linux product in the future. I
know there are PPC real-time patches for linux-2.3.45 , but as you say,
linux-2.3.XX doesn't support ramdisk yet. So I will not choose linux-2.3.45 at
this time.
Now I 'd like to compare linux real-time performance (such as task switch
time... ) with vxWorks , pSOS. So I need mpc860 real-time support for
embed-linux.
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated :-)

I'm attempting to get the latest rtlinux-3.0 to work with 2.2.13. I
have no idea if it will, since I've just started. It looks reasonable
in concept, however.
I'd love to hear if anyone else has done this already.
