I have replaced the old MPC823 on my original FADS with a new one (3H976,
revision B), and everything now works fine. The kernel never hanged, no
problems with bash and other SOFTWARE EMULATION bugs.

If you have similar problems check the CPU revision number...

If i knew this before...

Bye,
Paolo.

Motorola posts silicon errata for a reason. It helps to carefuly
read and understand just how it affects what you are doing. Some
Linux kernel configuration options (or source code hacks :-) or
processor speed selections are based upon this information.
