Hi Again.
This is the kernel version.
Linux version 2.4.2_hhl20 (build@2of9) (gcc version 2.95.3 20010315
(release/Mon
taVista)) #1 Wed May 23 14:33:28 PDT 2001
Motorola SPS Sandpoint Test Platform
Sandpoint port (C) 2000, 2001 MontaVista Software, Inc. (source@mvista.com)
The problem seems to be with all the intel cards. I have now also tried an
82558. and it seems to fail on the self test part too.
It may seem that the problem is with the sandpoint board rather than the
card and driver itself
regards

Ole,
Your message is too sparse & cryptic for me to figure out what your problem
is.
Would you please provide more info like the complete console output, stack
backtrace, etc.
Are you using an X2 or X3 sandpoint board??
I'm assuming that you have *VERY CAREFULLY* set the switches on the board
correctly.
Mark

First off the problem seems to be that the self test fails. And then i get
the wait_for_cm_done timeout! message. I have tried two different intel
cards the one is i82550 based and the other is older and based on the i82559
chip. We have a Linux server here running 2.4.8 and it has the exactly same
driver and it does not fail so I think it is something with the Sandpoint
Reference Platform.

When the self test fails on an i8255x device it indicates a
problem with inbound transations to system memory. Obviously
outbound transactions are working since it's reading the MAC
address from the EEPROM.

You neglected to give us basic information on what kernel tree
you are running. We need that in order to have a chance to
help you.
