In short, is this possible? I've played around with the mixer
settings but can't seem to figure it out.
I've found very little information in the archives about this...is
anyone recording audio?
I've got a Powerbook Lombard, btw. The best would be support for the
built in mic at the top of the LCD :)
ttyl,

dmasound doesn't support recording AFAIK, but ALSA might.

hmm, I wasn't even aware that there was an ALSA driver for powermac
sound hardware. I'll have to check that out...

Recording doesn't work on pmac AFAIK. Newer macs don't even
have an audio-in connector #:(6

Uh? Alsa works on ppc ? Perhaps it's time to buy an RME :))

Since when? I originally wrote the code a long time ago and still
use it on my Wallstreet PowerBook. I haven't used a new kernel
recently on this system, but it sure used to work.

Last I checked, ALSA did not support any of the AWACS family chips in
PowerMac/PowerBook systems at all. There was a comment in a Todo log in
the source that mentioned they intended to do such a driver at some point,
but I don't know that one was ever written.

I'm using 0.5 from CVS, that's enough evidence for me. :) 0.9 oopses on
me but works for others.
PS: Sorry Josh, my mailer doesn't understand your headers. You'll have
to deal with it, or feel free to fix it. ;)

SuSE people did, they have drivers for awacs, burgundy, tumbler and daca.

It does. See Iain's page.

It even supports iBooks IIRC.
Cheers

pbook awacs support used to be broken in the cvs of a couple of
weeks ago and would not compile.
that may have been corrected by now, but i haven't checked for a
while.
