The card which is b= ased on PowerPC 440=2C running linux=2C has an Intel NIC plugged onto PCIe = link. When I do a ping test =2C following happens: 1. The card (10.10.10.111) and a PC (10.10.10.2) are connected to a switch= . PC has Wireshark installed.2. Pinging from the card to PC - issued ping = 10.10.10.2 -c 2 (used a startup script. No serial console)3. PC receives a= n ARP REQ prior to ICMP from the CARD. <--------- observed on Wiresha= rk installed on the PC.4. PC responses with an ARP RESP .5. the NIC(intel= GigE) on the card receives ARP RESP and the NIC counters are incremented.= But=2C Neither DD (Descriptor Done) nor EOP (End Of Packet) bits are set o= n the descriptor. When the NIC receives a frame=2C NIC is supposed to issue the DMA operation= to store the received frame to the host buffer and upon successful DMA of = the frame to host memory=2C the NIC is supposed to increment RDH (Receive D= escriptor Head) pointer and set DD and EOP bits on the status field of desc= riptor and has to notify the processor. But that did not happen. I'm fine r= eceiving other interrupts. Can anyone point out why this can happen? Any pointers would be great help. Hello All=2C

I am trying to b= ring-up a network interface on my card. The card which is based on PowerPC = 440=2C running linux=2C has an Intel NIC plugged onto PCIe link.

When I do a ping test =2C following happens:

1.  =3BThe card (10.10.10.111) and a PC (10.10.10.2) are conn= ected to a switch. PC has Wireshark installed.
2.  =3BPinging= from the card to PC - issued ping 10.10.10.2 -c 2 (used a startup script. = No serial console)
3.  =3BPC receives an ARP REQ prior to ICM= P from the CARD.  =3B  =3B  =3B <=3B--------- observed on Wir= eshark installed on the PC.
4.  =3BPC responses with an ARP R= ESP .
5.  =3Bthe NIC(intel GigE)  =3Bon the card receives= ARP RESP and the NIC counters are incremented. But=2C Neither DD (Descript= or Done) nor EOP (End Of Packet) bits are set on the descriptor.

When the NIC receives a frame=2C NIC is supposed to issue th= e DMA operation to store the received frame to the host buffer and upon suc= cessful DMA of the frame to host memory=2C the NIC is supposed to increment= RDH (Receive Descriptor Head) pointer and set DD and EOP bits on the statu= s field of descriptor and has to notify the processor. But that did not hap= pen. I'm fine receiving other interrupts.

Can anyo= ne point out why this can happen? Any pointers would be great help.
