Subject: [RFC PATCH v2 03/11] objtool/klp: Preserve identifier digits when stripping suffixes
Date: Wed, 4 Nov 2026 21:31:49 +0800 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <20261104133158.3187525-4-luolongjuna@gmail.com> (raw)
In-Reply-To: <20261104133158.3187525-1-luolongjuna@gmail.com>
The name tx.crc32 loses its trailing digits, while tx.crc32.llvm.<hash>
keeps them because of an early return. ThinLTO promotion can therefore
break correlation and copy existing static state into the patch.
Strip LLVM hashes and complete .<number> suffixes on the same path.
Keep the counter-stripping rule for __UNIQUE_ID names, including
Clang's function-prefixed names.
Add a ThinLTO test which checks that the existing crc32 state is reused.
The available objtool tests pass with GCC 16.2.1 and Clang 22.1.8.
Fixes: 0d83da43b1e1 ("objtool/klp: Add --checksum option to generate per-function checksums")
Fixes: 020b71dcafee ("objtool/klp: Remove .llvm suffix in demangle_name()")
