[1.] SUMMARY 
kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k block-major-93, errno = 2 for
Kernel 2.4.19

[2.] DESCRIPTION 
Kernel 2.4.19 stop to boot with a kernel panic because it's unable to
load the apropriate device module.
KERNEL built with IDE support as module.
INITRD contains all the IDE modules.
/lib/modules/2.4.19/modules.dep of the INITRD updated.
/etc/modules.conf of the INITRD updated.
The INITRD also contains the modutils, a shell, mount/umount.
Root selected in LILO = /dev/hda3
If the parameter root=/dev/ram0 is passed to the kernel and at the sheel
prompt the command "/sbin/modprobe -s -k block-major-3" is executed the
module is loaded.
But the same command failed with kmod during the boot process.
The exact same config is working fine with the 2.4.18 kernel.

none of these changes made any difference.

Same tests with a 2.4.18 kernel were OK
Kernel 2.4.18 compiled with same config file as the kernel 2.4.19.
The INITRD for the 2.4.18 was the same except the directory /lib/modules
was uptated to match the 2.4.18 kernel.
No problems noticed with the 2.4.18 kernel on any CPU booting hard drive
or DiskOnChip 2000.
