The other solution is to use standard-make features like in
mkdir -p $(foreach d,ui/browsers scripting-engines,$(OUTPUT)util/$(d)/) 2> /dev/null
Is there actually a specific reason for the
$(shell sh -c '...')
around?
It looks superflous.
