This sort of code:

	if (foo) {
		[ do_something ]
	} else
		return -ERRVAL;

is generally better rewritten as:

	if (!foo)
		return -ERRVAL;

	[ do_something ]

This gives immediacy to the error handler and
as well reduces unnecessary indentation.

So instead of:
