I also sent this mail to linux-scsi mailing list but got NO reply :( Here is BUG report: 1. Linux kernels 2.4.x don't see partitions on my AMI MegaRAID 500 raid array. 2. I have server with MegaRAID 500 controller, 40LD BIOS v 3.11 with RAID5 36Gb storage array. Kernels 2.4.[1, 2, 2-ac26, 3-pre8] detects my controller and disk normally as /dev/sda, but then it fails in 'Partiotion check:' with message 'unknown partition table'. MSDOS partition support is included in the kernel. I made some quick debugging and saw that kernel reads zeroes from my scsi disk instead of reading partition table :(. Kernels 2.2.16 and 2.2.18, successfully reads partition table and then works well with megaraid. But i need 2.4 for correct SMP working. 3. drivers, scsi 4. 2.4.1, 2.4.2, 2.4.2-ac26, 2.4.3-pre8 5. 6. 7.1 Linux invwms.invacorp 2.2.18 #2 Wed Mar 28 12:26:20 MSD 2001 i686 unknown Gnu C egcs-2.91.66 Gnu make 3.78.1 binutils 2.9.5.0.22 util-linux 2.10f mount 2.10f modutils 2.3.21 e2fsprogs 1.18 pcmcia-cs 3.1.8 Linux C Library 2.1.3 Dynamic linker (ldd) 2.1.3 Procps 2.0.6 Net-tools 1.54 Console-tools 0.3.3 Sh-utils 2.0 Modules Loaded 7.2 processor : 0 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 6 model : 8 model name : Pentium III (Coppermine) stepping : 6 cpu MHz : 999.785 cache size : 256 KB fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no sep_bug : no f00f_bug : no coma_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 3 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 psn mmx fxsr xmm bogomips : 1992.29 7.3 7.4 7.5 00:00.0 Host bridge: Relience Computer CNB20HE (rev 05) Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- Status: Cap- 66Mhz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- 2.4.x kernels output the same but last 2 lines: Partition check: unknown partition table Please, help me. -- Best regards, Leo Solvo Ltd.
