Hi.

I have just installed a system with kernel 2.4.20, and it stops booting
with a message like:

Controller is in an impossible state. Disable UDMA.

Board is a SuperMicro 370DLE (SW LE chipset). I have tried disabling
ide channels on the bios, but kernel still sees them. I have tried to
boot with ide0=nodma (is this options real, or I just have invented it ??)
No solution.

Any ideas ?

TIA

That is triggered when we see a case that can cause disk corruption.

At some point I'll sort this properly if Andre doesnt do it first.

ide=nodma

Please send me details on the system. lspci -v output too.

TNX!!

As I said, it is a SUPER P3TDLE, with 2 UDMA/33 channels, and a cdrom
in hda and a zip in hdc (nothing in any slave).
I will send you details tomorrow from work.

Here is the info. I CC the list because of the high number of 'unknown devices',
parhaps it is worth a bunch of PCI ids update (kernel is a 2.4.10, still have to
build a .12, perhaps they are updated there...).

I was not completely correct, this mobo is a SuperMicro P3TD6 (it is the front
end, the 370DLE is the one for the cluster nodes...). Specs:

- Chipset: ServerWorks HE-SL
- AGP 2x Pro, say the specs...
- On board Intel 82559 Ethernet (not recognised)
- Onboard Adaptec AIC-7899W (7902 future option) dual channel
	Ultra160 (320) SCSI controller
- Dual Ultra DMA (UDMA/33) bus master/EIDE channels
- Dual USB (Universal Serial Bus) port
- Ethernet 3Com 905C-TX card
- Ehternet 3Com 980TX (not recognised in .10 bu present in .12-ac3 pci.ids
- Creative GeForce3 (not recognised)
