This is my first time trying to report a kernel problem, so I have no
idea if I'm doing it the right way or not. I also don't understand
the problem; maybe it's my own fault. Here it goes, though:

[1.] One line summary of the problem:

spurious 8259A interrupt: IRQ7. (during heavy disk reads)

[2.] Full description of the problem/report:

I was experimenting with kernel 2.5.25 with 2.4 IDE forward port and
Toshiba ACPI extensions. I was running find and part way through I
got this message on the console:
	spurious 8259A interrupt: IRQ7.
It doesn't seem to be reproducible.

[3.] Keywords (i.e., modules, networking, kernel):

spurious, interrupt, IRQ7

[4.] Kernel version (from /proc/version):

Linux version 2.5.25 (root@zigoku) (gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat
Linux 7.3 2.96-110)) #1 Tue Jul 30 01:31:34 PDT 2002

[5.] Output of Oops.. message (if applicable) with symbolic
information
     resolved (see Documentation/oops-tracing.txt)

No oops.

[6.] A small shell script or example program which triggers the
     problem (if possible)

Haven't replicated it yet.

[7.] Environment
[7.1.] Software (add the output of the ver_linux script here)

OK -- I'll take that explanation. I mentioned it because it happened
in the first half hour of using this kernel specifically, and I'd
never seen it before.

Thanks,

Eric

This is my first time trying to answer to a kernel report problem :)

There were a discussion about this warning some time ago.
As far as I remember, it's just a interrupt which is not registered by
any peripheral.
this is not a kernel bug, just a buggy hardware.

FWIW, I don't have IO-APIC turned on (and didn't before either)

I only see this if I have IO-APIC turned on for a uniprocessor
system.
