Just tried mm3 for the fun of it with two results:
1. If I leave my Xircom card in the PCMCIA slot, the kernel hangs at the
following point during boot:
Yenta IRQ list 00b8, PCI irq 10
Socket Status: 30000820
*hang*
This does not happen if the card is not in plugged in.
2. After I booted, I logged into X, started up my mutts (6 of em) and
started moving the mouse cursor about. Laptop turned itself off.

Martin's distress was in contrast to the bitter satisfaction of some
of his fellow marines as they surveyed the scene. "The Iraqis are sick
people and we are the chemotherapy," said Corporal Ryan Dupre. "I am
starting to hate this country. Wait till I get hold of a friggin' Iraqi.
No, I won't get hold of one. I'll just kill him."

Russell is working on that one.

The first thing to do when a -mm kernel mysteriously explodes is to try just
the Linus part. Could you please do that?
ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/akpm/patches/2.5/2.5.66/2.5.66-mm3/broken-out/linus.patch
It is against 2.5.66.

Done.

I had to apply the framebuffer patch so that my kernel would not crash
for that reason (this was applied to the original mm3 aswell - forgot to
metnion). Also the percentile tmpfs was applied. Normal kernel works
fine with both patches.
Still, the linus.patch produced the same result. If you think it's
worthwhile I'll compile out the fa and perc patchesb but I didn't think
it significant due to them workign just fine with 2.5.66.

Well you've already worked out that the problem is due to the i2c and/or
sensors changes, yes?
That's the area to start backing stuff out to work out where it broke.

Some more info for you: -bk10 is working fine (except for the pcmcia
thing). Was able to start up my mutts and am currently compiling it with
I2C code to see if it goes then.

It's a know problem... Russell King its working on it. Please, be
patient :-)
For now, you can try removing the card from the PCMCIA slot, booting the
kernel and then, inserting the card.
Thanks!
