I've compiled VESA framebuffer in the new kernel 2.6.0-test3 and I use it with vga=773. I've noticed that in /dev/tty1 (and only on this tty) appears some strange simbol instead of some italian character (letters with accent). Everything is fine with 80x25 text mode and with kernel of 2.4.x series My locales settings are: LANGUAGE=C LC_CTYPE=it_IT LANG=C I'm running a Woody 3.0 unstable on a Mendocino 300a with ABIT BH6. ------------------------ cat /proc/cpuinfo ------------------------ processor : 0 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 6 model : 6 model name : Celeron (Mendocino) stepping : 0 cpu MHz : 300.819 cache size : 128 KB fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug : no coma_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 2 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 mmx fxsr bogomips : 591.87 ------------------------ cat /proc/io* -------------------- 00000000-0009ffff : System RAM 000a0000-000bffff : Video RAM area 000d0000-000d2fff : Extension ROM 000f0000-000fffff : System ROM 00100000-0ffeffff : System RAM 00100000-00333572 : Kernel code 00333573-003d4dff : Kernel data 0fff0000-0fff2fff : ACPI Non-volatile Storage 0fff3000-0fffffff : ACPI Tables c0000000-cfffffff : 0000:00:00.0 d0000000-d7ffffff : PCI Bus #01 d0000000-d7ffffff : 0000:01:00.0 d0000000-d0ffffff : vesafb d8000000-d9ffffff : PCI Bus #01 d9000000-d900ffff : 0000:01:00.0 db000000-db0000ff : 0000:00:0d.0 ffff0000-ffffffff : reserved 0000-001f : dma1 0020-0021 : pic1 0040-005f : timer 0060-006f : keyboard 0070-0077 : rtc 0080-008f : dma page reg 00a0-00a1 : pic2 00c0-00df : dma2 00f0-00ff : fpu 0170-0177 : ide1 01f0-01f7 : ide0 02f8-02ff : serial 0376-0376 : ide1 03c0-03df : vesafb 03f6-03f6 : ide0 03f8-03ff : serial 0cf8-0cff : PCI conf1 4000-403f : 0000:00:07.3 5000-501f : 0000:00:07.3 c000-cfff : PCI Bus #01 c000-c0ff : 0000:01:00.0 d000-d01f : 0000:00:07.2 d400-d41f : 0000:00:0b.0 d800-d807 : 0000:00:0b.1 dc00-dcff : 0000:00:0d.0 e000-e01f : 0000:00:11.0 e000-e01f : ne2k-pci f000-f00f : 0000:00:07.1 f000-f007 : ide0 f008-f00f : ide1 ------------------------ lspci -vvv ------------------------------ 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corp. 440BX/ZX/DX - 82443BX/ZX/DX Host bridge (rev 03) Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- Status: Cap+ 66Mhz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- SERR- 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corp. 440BX/ZX/DX - 82443BX/ZX/DX AGP bridge (rev 03) (prog-if 00 [Normal decode]) Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- Status: Cap- 66Mhz+ UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- SERR- Reset- FastB2B+ 00:07.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corp. 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 ISA (rev 02) Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle+ MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- Status: Cap- 66Mhz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- TAbort- SERR- 00:0b.1 Input device controller: Creative Labs SB Live!
