The make command above does work without the 
O=
argument

I apologize for delay if more info is needed, I get the KML in a digest (one 
daily message)

It would be easier to carbon copy me in replies, as 
I get it at circa 0700 GMT -0500

Hi John.
The problem is know and a fix exist.
Usually reported as xconfig build fails with make O=
The fix did not pass Linus' current patchfilter - it is not critical - so it 
will be applied later. Until now here it is.

patch didn't stop erring.
I redirected all output to a file (attached) (plus added some hash comments)

However, xconfig did work correctly.
