A more recent module-init-tools will not return failure when asked to
modprobe something it's never heard of (with -q, which the kernel uses,
despite that misleading message) eg:
modprobe -q -- aalsfdhjlsfdjkhsfhkh
Will "succeed".
Cheers,
Rusty.
