Hello,

I have compiled 2.6.3, with i2c suporte for my chipset "nforce2" to the board asus a7n8x-x, but, it crashes my box all the time, dont know why!
But it only crashes after login and a couple of minutes working...
any one know womething about this?

Is the crash only with i2c or are you just trying linux on this board?

It only crashes with i2c, the kernel it's working nicelly, at the moment, but without i2c, if i compile it with i2c build in, it crashes.

Ok, thought you might have had the nForce2 bug issue as well. Perhaps
you haave already patched for that.

If i run sensors-detect, it doesn't detect any chips, does a7n8x-x should work?

What is the oops reported?

Do you have any of the CONFIG_I2C_DEBUG_* options enabled? If so,
please do not, as that was causing a few oopses. All of them are fixed
in the latest -mm release.

thanks,

No i dont have nothing of that enable! all debug options are disable, should a7n8x-x work with lm_sensors? sensors-detect says that dont founds any chip's in my machine... but it finds nforce2 SMBus.

What is "a7n8x-x"?

> sensors-detect says that dont founds any chip's in my machine...

Then I would believe that no sensors are present for it :)

> but it finds nforce2 SMBus.

Hm, did you try the 2.4 package of lmsensors on a 2.4 kernel? It
supports more chip drivers than 2.6 currently does.

good luck,

greg k-h

Try using the w83781d

<M> Winbond W83781D, W83782D, W83783S, W83627HF, Asus AS99127F

Well.. that one works here on an A7N8X Deluxe anyway. I dont think it
worked for me builtin, but I load it as a module and its ok
