The drive will detect/work properly with uhci.

I tried this with 2.6.8-rc2 and have the exact same problem.

I did not know that the 2.6.8-rc2 kernel was out yet :)

Anyway, can you try the latest -mm release to see if this is fixed there
or not?

If not, care to file a bug at bugzilla.kernel.org for it so I can assign
it to the proper person?
