this is based on a statement from Al Viro:

| autofs4 use - AFAICS there we want atime updated unconditionally, 
| so calling update_atime() (update atime after checking 
| noatime/nodiratime/readonly flags) is wrong.

agreed, maybe a proper fix would be better ...
