We (the -stable team) are announcing the release of the 2.6.16.24 kernel.

I'll also be replying to this message with a copy of the patch between
2.6.16.23 and 2.6.16.24, as it is small enough to do so.

The updated 2.6.16.y git tree can be found at:
 	git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-2.6.16.y.git
and can be browsed at the normal kernel.org git web browser:
	www.kernel.org/git/

Is it still okay to submit patches for 2.6.16-stable? I guess "dirty
buffers flushing broken after resume" may count...

I was under the impression that 2.6.16.y was staying open for a much 
longer time, as per Adrian's "2.6.16 long living kernel" announcement a 
short while back.

I just assumed that the Greg and Chris were handling it until 2.6.18 
gets released, and then Adrian takes over 2.6.16.y while the [stable] 
team moves on to 2.6.17.y and 2.6.18.y ...  Was this an incorrect 
assumption?

...and if not, should 2.6.16.y patches always be sent to 
stable@kernel.org, or will Adrian have an alternate method for accepting 
patches?

Greg told me they want to make one last 2.6.16.y release.

Greg and Chris don't maintain two series that long - check the date of 
the last 2.6.15.y release.

This is among the small technical issues that have to be discussed and 
solved.

they haven't in the past, but I thought the stated plan was to support -stable 
for two revs back going forward.

Hm, I don't remember saying that anywhere, I was thinking we (Chris and
I) were agreeing to maintain the last full version for a few releases,
like we are currently doing.

Hopefully I can flush the last 2.6.16 patches out this week and then
hand it over to Adrian for him to have his way with it :)
