Hi Linus,
Thanks for pulling the generic semaphores. This follow-on series
removes all in-tree references to asm/semaphore.h. Many of the existing
references are in files which do not use semaphores, so they are simply
deleted. The remainder are converted to use linux/semaphore.h.
As you can imagine, this has the potential to conflict with just about
any patch. I've fixed it up for the latest git tree, but obviously
it's likely to cause conflicts whenever it goes in. It was a pain to
keep up with breakage-of-the day when it was in linux-next, so I dropped
all of these temporarily from the earlier semaphore tree. If it causes
problems when you try to pull it, just kick it back to me and I'll redo
it on top of your tree. Or just tell me that you'll pull it right at
the end of the merge window if you like.

Thanks, Geert. It must've been pulled in implicitly before. I'll take
care of this patch.

Let me say up front I have no problem with this change, which moved from
<asm/semaphore.h> to <linux/semaphore.h>. So take this email as an
honest question and not any form of complaint or criticism. But looking
at that user_mad.c file in particular, I don't see any use of anything
that looks like it would come from semaphore.h.
So I'm wondering why you didn't just delete the inclusion, as you did in
other places? I can merge a follow-up that does that cleanup (which
builds and works fine on my usual architectures) but I want to avoid
breaking avr32 allyesconfig or something like that.
(Commit 2fe7e6f7 "IB/umad: Simplify and fix locking" changed the locking
scheme, so maybe you looked at an older file)
Thanks,
Roland

You've missed this hunk:
if (filp->f_flags & O_NONBLOCK) {
if (down_trylock(&port->sm_sem)) {
ret = -EAGAIN;
goto fail;
}
} else {
if (down_interruptible(&port->sm_sem)) {
ret = -ERESTARTSYS;
goto fail;
}
}
which is still in Linus' tree as of last night.

Duh, thanks.
