3700 on level 7, more (like 4700) on disengaged, but still not enough
to keep it from going to 1GHz.

Yes, I'm trying to say that the fan isn't keeping keeping up with the
heat output of the CPU.

Hmm, ok, maybe. It is true that nearby X60p behaved slightly
differently.
