ok, I ended up with..

        WARN_ON_ONCE(!mutex_is_locked(&target->d_parent->d_inode->i_mutex));

        if (dentry->d_parent != NULL)
                WARN_ON_ONCE(!mutex_is_locked(&dentry->d_inode->i_mutex));

but..
