What's the plan when we approach kernel version 4.0?
Will we be moving in to version 4.x or staying in the 3.x numbers for
the time being?

The default is that we would stay with 3.x --- I don't see any reason
why we would go to 4.x any time in the near future.

Ok, that's fair enough and all. But it was never thought that we'd move
to kernel version 3.x and now look where we're at.
