Yes your point is correct, as before function used is printk(), so changing it to ratelimit is not a good idea. So here I should have preferred changing it to netdev_*macro(). As every kernel subsystem has its own printk format like net_* for network subsystem. And it is preferred to use them to standardize the format of the output within the subsystem.
