It converts the late loading method to load the microcode in parallel (vs sequentially currently). The patch remained in linux-next for the maximum amount of time so that any potential and hard to debug fallout be minimized. Now cloud folks have their milliseconds back but all the normal people should use early loading anyway. :-) * Enable the late loading method to update microcode in parallel on all CPUs (Ashok Raj) Please pull, thanks. --- The following changes since commit 54ecb8f7028c5eb3d740bb82b0f1d90f2df63c5c: Linux 5.4-rc1 (2019-09-30 10:35:40 -0700) are available in the Git repository at: git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip.git x86-microcode-for-linus for you to fetch changes up to 811ae8ba6dca6b91a3ceccf9d40b98818cc4f400: x86/microcode/intel: Issue the revision updated message only on the BSP (2019-10-01 16:06:35 +0200) ---------------------------------------------------------------- Ashok Raj (1): x86/microcode: Update late microcode in parallel Borislav Petkov (2): x86/microcode/amd: Fix two -Wunused-but-set-variable warnings x86/microcode/intel: Issue the revision updated message only on the BSP arch/x86/kernel/cpu/microcode/amd.c | 4 ++-- arch/x86/kernel/cpu/microcode/core.c | 36 ++++++++++++++++++++--------------- arch/x86/kernel/cpu/microcode/intel.c | 5 +++-- 3 files changed, 26 insertions(+), 19 deletions(-) -- Regards/Gruss, Boris.
