naah.  preempt() means preempt.  But the implementation
is in fact maybe_preempt(), or preempt_if_needed().

I use (verbosely) (simplified):

#define conditional_schedule_needed()	unlikely(current->need_resched)

#define conditional_schedule()		if (conditional_schedule_needed())
