Tomas,

I placed this on k.o for you and listed this email as the origin of the
work. I am assuming this is okay. If not please let me know.

Cheers,

Thanks a lot, Andre. Can I send further diffs of this kind to you?

I'm removing the patch from my web now, as it's available from
http://www.[country].kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/hedrick/ide-2.4.21/

Not a problem!

I am distracted with other issues :-/

I would ask that you do it into sends.
One to lkml and a second direct to me.

All lkml from/to/cc/bcc traffic drops into procmailrc's ${}/KERNEL

Only direct email not effected by the list of procmail rules goes straight
to a first read directory.

Cheers,

I get the following oops when running 2.4.21-pre3 +
2.4.21-pre3-2420ide-1. The oops occurred after running the Cerberus
stress test for about 5 hours. The machine uses an ASUS A7N8X single
AMD Athlon XP motherboard with the Nvidia nforce2 chipset. I had to
pass ide0=ata66 ide1=ata66 to the kernel in order to use DMA.

Mike

ksymoops 2.4.4 on i686 2.4.21-1. Options used
     -V (default)
     -k /proc/ksyms (default)
     -l /proc/modules (default)
     -o /lib/modules/2.4.21-1/ (default)
     -m /boot/System.map-2.4.21-1 (default)

Warning: You did not tell me where to find symbol information. I will
assume that the log matches the kernel and modules that are running
right now and I'll use the default options above for symbol resolution.
If the current kernel and/or modules do not match the log, you can get
more accurate output by telling me the kernel version and where to find
map, modules, ksyms etc. ksymoops -h explains the options.

Michael,

are you able to reproduce this oops with vanilla 2.4.20?

Actually, we put some different memory in the machine and now it seems
stable.
