It didn't boot. Instead there was a kernel panic which looked like this: Call Trace: [] invalidate_inode_pages+0x1f/0x30 [] dp_md_run+0x157/0x460 [] printk+0x11d/0x180 [] autorun_array+094/0xc0 [] autorun_devices+0x20b/0x250 [] autostart_arrays+0x2a/0xc6 [] igrab+0x4b/0x50 [] md_ioctl+0x7a3/0x7e0 [] devfs_open+0x10d/0x110 [] dentry_open+0x145/0x210 [] filp_open+0x68/0x70 [] blkdev_ioctl+0xb3/0x45a [] sys_ioctl+0xf3/0x280 [] md_run_setup+0x6b/0xc0 [] prepare_namespace+0x19/0x150 [] init+0x37/0x160 [] init+0x0/0x160 [] kernel_thread_helper+0x5/0xc Code: 8b 18 89 1c 24 e8 d3 dd ff ff 85 c0 89 c6 0f 84 89 00 00 00 <0> Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init! I had a problem with the bk10 kernel too, which I already sent to the software raid mailing list (I use raid0 with lvm - see below). I guess this problem is related because it says something about md in the kernel panic. But because I am not shure about that I'm sending it to linux-kernel@vger.kernel.org. The panic occurs shortly after the linux kernel is loaded. It prints some stuff first and then panics. I guess the panic occurs when it tries to load init. ---Keywords (i.e., modules, networking, kernel): kernel, raid, lvm ---Kernel version: 2.6.0-test5-bk11 (this is not from /proc/version since I have to use the 2.6.0-test5-bk3 - which works fine - to write this mail) ---Software (add the output of the ver_linux script here) root@chaos:/usr/src/linux/scripts # ./ver_linux If some fields are empty or look unusual you may have an old version.
