   Are you doing LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 on the same line as the rpm command?

This should work:
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 rpm -qa

This shouldn't:
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1
rpm -qa
