Hangs on boot, after ide0 detection: last 3 lines are
hda: QSI CD-RW/DVD-ROM SBW-242, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
Using anticipatory io scheduler
ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7, 0x3f6 on irq14
then it hangs
Here attached config and lspci
Bye!

What would the next message have been, if it had not hung up?

Here attached, a normal startup with -mm4.
Note that I had this problem also with -mm3, that occasionally hanged
both at this step _OR_ after ACPI processor module insertion: in that
case the last line shown at startup was:
ACPI: Processor [CPU0] (supports C1, C2, C3, 8 throttling states)
i.e. line #154 in the attached dmesg.
All of the boots I've done with -mm5 (5 or 6), instead, hanged after
ide0 (but may be pure coincidence).
Bye

Just some positive feedback. I tried this on my brand new IBM Thinkpad
T42p and nothing regressed.
I do have a problem with PCMCIA/CardBus not working with the FC2 kernel
(kernel-2.6.6-1.435.2.1) I tried 2.6.7-mm5 in hopes of it working, but
alas it is still borked.

After the issues with my EHCI controller I now hit another related
problem. This time the IRQ of my onboard ethernet controller is being
silenced. It happened when I removed the 3w-9xxx module which share
interrupts. I tried bringing the ethernet connection back to live by
doing a rmmod & insmod but that brought another 'Disabling IRQ..'
