Dunno. Many people is using it, so I guess it is.

Doesn't like 4KSTACKS :(

Hans does ;)
And I would if it compiled with 4KSTACKS.

Have you read the documents at http://www.namesys.com/ yet? It makes
for great reading as everything is quite detailed. They also have a
mailing list you might want to subscribe to if you're worried about
bugs. As far as critical bugs, I don't know of any right now.

Hope that helps,

Other readers have been less complimentary. Someone could do a great
service to both Namesys and the kernel community by sifting through the
references to Adam Smith, Free Software philosophy, chaos theory, King
Arthur, etc., and producing an edited version that keeps to the point.

Backup / Format / Restore is the only way of migrating to Reiser4 (no magical
tool to convert from reiser3-to-reiser4 is available ATM).

> the reiser4 have any critical bug?? anyone recommend this update???

It depends... I wouldn't recommend Reiser4 for production systems. AFAIK,
there are still some pending minor bugs, but it's very unlikely that it will
eat your data.

its not a update, since its two difference filesystems, i would say its
safe, i run it myself

i recommend "update", and the only thing is the 4kstacks thing

Hans would be ready to write a conversion tool if you sponsor him ;-)

Anyway Hans wrote once, that future format changes in reiser4 should
be feasible by using a specially written "plugin" for that. (please
refer to the thread about plugins for details, people argue about
the terminology here)

>> the reiser4 have any critical bug?? anyone recommend this update???
Do not use it yet on important data. Please experiment though on data
you do not really value that much.

I have read a report that reiser4 has a problem with apache
trying to access .htaccess. Something about reiser4 giving a
misleading answer to a stat() call or something in that manner.

Subscribing to Reiserfs Mailinglist <reiserfs-list@namesys.com>
is also valueable of course.

There truly is a need for a glossary of terms and I belive Hans
and his crew know that the community needs proper documents
so that we all can grasp the whole idea behind reiser4 but
without so called "Hans Talk".

Regards,
Maciej

zam is working on 4k stacks support. Not sure why people care about it

Any chance to get an all.diff for vanilla 2.6.9-rc1 ?

Thanks,
Jeff.

Hello!

There is nice tool called convertfs. Google it. If I recall correctly,
it allows to perform inplace conversion of any FS to any :)

judging from the recent discussions, Reiser4 in it's current form will
never enter the Linux kernel.

A modified version might enter the Linux kernel at some point in the
future.
