The relevant iptables commands I do use for masquerading and clamping are:
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o ppp0 -j MASQUERADE
iptables -A FORWARD -p tcp --tcp-flags SYN,RST SYN -j TCPMSS \
--clamp-mss-to-pmtu
