I can't reproduce the bug on any of my hardware right now (it was there
once, it's gone now). But Jesper Juhl can and he's narrowing down what
makes the difference between those drivers.

Can you guys send me your .config? And btw, does using an old via-rhine
driver (say from vanilla 2.6.7) with 2.6.8-rc1 fix the problem?

Roger

As I believe I said in my original mail vanilla 2.6.7 works just fine
here. currently I'm running 2.6.8-rc1 with the driver from 2.6.7-mm7 -
also with fine results.

I'm still in the process of testing the patches you send me links to, but
it's a bit slow going since I've been tied up in personal matters for a
few days - I'll have some results for you very soon I hope.

My current .config that I'm using with 2.6.8-rc1 with the driver from -mm7
is below, it's identical to the one I use with an unmodified 2.6.8-rc1
which breaks the via-rhine driver, and is also (as closte as possible)
identical to the one I use with vanilla 2.6.7 (and -mm7) without trouble. :

Hi To all,

Also problem with Via-rhine but not like the problem explained here.
It's an verry strange problem.
Running with 2.6.(0-7)-vanilla and compiled via-rhien as internal driver or as
external module shows the same error, the server frezzes and won't respond on
any request only way to get it work again is to reboot. The only thing I know
is when sending and recieving constanly data e.g. reading mail with IMAP or
doing ftp transfere chrashes the system without any Log entry. For the reason
that this is a server hostet by an ISP i can't see any console output (if
any). So the ony thing that work for me is to build 2.4(x) with one single
module from VIA directly RHINE-FET.o whith this driver the NIC is initialised
correctly and the server works reliable. Testet Time (Max Uptime) was 120
Days. with the via-rhine in 2.6 and 2.4 the server chrashes every 1 - 5 days.
