Hey hackers!

With 2.6.38-rc2-00175-g6fb1b30 I get a new version of broken
display I've never seen before: The display looks like a misconfigured
tv after 2-3 suspends. Switching to a different tty was possible (though
still same broken display, but allowed a reboot) one time, the other time
the system completly froze.

2.6.37, 2.6.37-05761-gf878133 and 2.6.37-07956-g8c34482 do not have this bug.

Cheers,

Nico

This time I can produce some logs, as only my primary notebook display
is completly broken, the external monitor is working fine.

Attached are xorg, dmesg + kernel config.

I've to emphasize that this used to work better in 2.6.37.

Cheers,

Nico

Oh no, they weren't.

Sorry, too soon after pantomime season.

Alright, it's too early in the morning. Attached now.

Additional information:
  Using xrandr to switch LVDS1 off and on again "fixes"
  the issue.

Cheers,

So upon resume we fail to setup the connection between the CPU and PCH,
which would cause a broken display.

Now we haven't directly modified the FDI training in the .38 cycle, but we
have tweaked and enabled various power saving features for Ironlake that
have proven to be unstable in the past. (Hence why we had to disable them
but the obvious problems had been fixed...)

This should hopefully find the culprit:
$ git bisect start drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_display.c
$ git bisect good v2.6.37
$ git bisect bad

Thanks,
-Chris
