Hi stable folks,

Please consider applying the attached backport of upstream commit
c1f3e770eec2 ("fortify: Disable -Wstringop-overread in tests"), along
with a worthwhile prerequisite patch to clear up some other issues and
make that change apply correctly.

If there are any issues, please let me know.
