I like the idea with fork()-ing the process you mentioned lower (and will
send an updated patch soon) and in that case I don't think using
socketpair() makes sense. As per manpage, credentials for socketpair() are
the ones that were in effect at the time of call. This means both socket
ends will return credentials for the main process, no matter whether we
use fork() or not.
I agree that socketpair() can make the implementation easier, but I don't
think it would be the right solution for this use case.
