I have just pushed the implementation of the new list text mechanism
along with a few minor but related changes. The changesets are:

(These are in addition to the six changesets that I mentioned earlier,
which were paving the way for this work.)

A number of these changes contain some quite subtle and complicated
code, and could definitely do with review. Please help if you can! See
my earlier email for comments regarding the review process.

Apart from this, the only other features to be included in the next
release are rejection of posts and obstruction of subscriptions.
