For what it is worth, I use the following procmail rule to elimintate
duplicate messages based on Message-Id.
PROCMAIL_ROOT=${HOME}/.procmail
:0
* ? /usr/bin/formail -D 819200 ${PROCMAIL_ROOT}/log/message.cache
/dev/null
