OK the circumstances took a lllllong time to occur again but the result is that
the patch does not prevent the warning. While the issue was occurring I tried to
reproduce the warning from single user mode (after configuring the network via
dhclient) and could not cause the warning to happen. This makes me wonder
if it is tied to Network Manager or something else that starts on a full boot.
I also tried disabling the wifi card on the final try to see if the problem was due
to some interaction there but unfortunately the disabling of that didn't work
completely (see the dmesg with lots of ath5k warnings before the warning).
